Melukat Ceremony at a Sacred Water Temple in Ubud (Fully Naked Ritual)

Just north of Ubud lies a sacred and lesser-known water temple where a deeply spiritual Melukat ceremony is held — one unlike any other. This unique ritual, rooted in ancient Balinese Hindu traditions, is believed to bring harmony to couples and enhance fertility for those praying with pure intention.

What sets this sacred space apart is its strict ceremonial requirement: participants must be fully unclothed (NAKED) during the purification ritual. This is not optional — it is a core part of the temple’s sacred tradition.

The ceremony is led by a respected local Hindu priest, or Pemangku, and the act of removing all garments symbolizes full surrender and spiritual openness. According to local legend, disobeying this rule — such as wearing even the smallest piece of clothing — could result in fainting or losing consciousness.

Due to the intimate nature of the ritual and its deep cultural significance, participation is limited and must be arranged in advance. We can organize this unique spiritual experience for you, but requests must be made at least one day prior.

It is very important to note that women are not permitted to participate if they are menstruating, in line with temple rules. Respectful behavior is essential. Participants are expected to listen carefully to the priest’s and guide's guidance and follow all local customs with sincerity.
